Our team works around the clock to provide assistance to people in impoverished nations, and you can join us. Our "on the ground" observations are that Southern Africa is a land enormously rich in natural resources yet the human population suffers the results of extreme poverty. This geographical area is in the midst of a socio-economic and health crisis. Life expectancy at birth is less than 49 years.

With scarce preventive disease immunizations, and an infant mortality rate of 97 per 1,000 live births, it is crucial to provide medical care to expecting mothers, as well as to the newborn population.

It is also imperative to improve sanitation. Far too little of the population has access to safe water, and far too few have access to adequate sanitation.

How will your contributions help the women and children? HDI will use your donations to improve basic health care and sanitation systems. HDI works towards establishing and maintaining an adequate and culturally acceptable infrastructure, which will empower these populations and communities.

$50 will provide nutrition to a whole family for a month. $100 will pay for high-energy protein supplements for one year. $500 will pay for immunizations for 40 children. $1000 will pay for basic medical supplies, soap, and shampoo for 80 children. $5000 will pay for a facility to improve community hygiene and sanitation for a village of 50 families.
